Statistics and
Research Branch collects a number of statistics relating to schools, pupils
and teachers. These are gathered via the annual School Census Exercise, the
Summary of Annual Examination Results, the School Leavers Survey and an annual
return on teacher numbers.
Various data are held about pupils, such as gender, religion, ethnicity (including Travellers), Special Educational Needs and entitlement to free school meals. They are summarised at Northern Ireland level, or, in some cases presented at Education and Library Board area, or school level.
